SafeWalks NYC
Launched this year amid a spike in subway assaults and xenophobic attacks on Asian elders, SafeWalks is a community safety effort offering volunteer companions and security to people who feel unsafe on their route. The group has initiated expansion into Chinatown and is currently working towards setting up in Harlem and Queens. To handle the demand, SafeWalks is seeking crowdfunding via GofundMe to launch an application that can help expand services citywide.
