The Hungarian Pastry Shop
This loveably crap cafe is a veritible Columbia institution. Though the ceiling may be falling down, the paint peeling, you'll be sipping your diner-drip coffee next to the best minds of this generation, the next Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, hell - maybe James Franco even. One of the only true writer's coffee shops left in the city, grab a danish, and set up camp. You'll want to get there early to stake your claim on your intellectual real estate. The pastries may be average, but there's free refills on the coffee. So yeah, they're basically asking you to live there.
