It's bad enough waking up in a stranger's bed after a particularly #ThirstyThursday only to find that you left your debit card at the bar and last night's Uber charged you $200 for puking in the backseat. But now you've got yet another drunk liability fee to worry about.
Starting August 1st, Uber users across the country will have to pay a $15 item return fee if they leave their phone, wallet, or very expensive mascara in the car and, well, want it back. According to a statement, Uber drivers return an average of 11 lost items per year. "That’s a lot of time spent on the road and not earning." Which, fine, is true, but when surge prices are like 99x the normal rate and pools just keep piling people in, where exactly is Uber going to draw the line? We definitely agree that drivers should be paid fare wages, but if they start charging a "hand me the aux cord" fee, we're out.
