Elio's

Two seconds in the doorway of this Upper East Side establishment and it's obvious it's the real deal. Likely, the waiters make more a year than you do. Please - the coat check woman makes more a year than you do. Tables dressed in classic white cloths, a daily changing Christmas list of specials, long and guaranteed never to disappoint. Tom Selleck by the wall, Paul McCartney over there - and yes, that is indeed Woody Allen and Soon-Yi in the corner.

Just the casual scene that awaits any given night at New York's most delicious, exclusive eatery, Elio's. Not that you should expect to ever get a table. Waiting lists, background checks, bank statement scans, socialite sponsors - if you're not born with a connection, God knows how you really swing it, but it's not easy, and one way or another, you will pay.
