We've noticed a huge upswing in dating events in the past few months: HowAboutWe, Fashion Meets Finance, Urban Signals, and The Ball For Jewish Singles. Patti Stanger has moved "Millionaire Matchmaker" to NYC, and last night was a singles mixer at Matsuri. It's like, singles events are the new 80s prom. Why so lonely, NYC? -

Last night's event was run by Maria The Date Coach who is a professional date coach and 4th generation matchmaker. Guests were invited to wear Name Tag Mad Libs with phrases like "Too Much Sake Makes Me_______" and "I Lost My Virginity At _____". (If I were a guy at this party I would totally choose that nametag and just write a cheerful "TBD!"on it...)

If you're interested in some of Maria's dating tips, she posts them on her Facebook page:

Ok, that's an icebreaker I've not yet tried...

So, keep that in mind, single New Yorkers!

Anyway, one surefire way to help nascent love connections is definitely alcohol, which Maria had flowing-a-plenty with an open bar of G Sake.
