For years, Patrick McMullan has enjoyed a comfortable monopoly on New York event photography, his name being synonymous with everything from fashion events to high society galas. Last night, however, three of his former star photographers celebrated the opening of their new photography agency at Le Bain. -
The newly formed Billy Farrell Agency was founded by Billy Farrell, Joe Schildhorn, and Neil Rasmus, three photographers with a combined 20 years experience at PMc. Using the PMc name, these photographers have over the years shot some of the city's most high-profile events, including "movie premieres", the high fashion parties, Fashion Week events, and benefit galas, simultaneously building up their name as well (trust me, every socialite knows exactly who the PMc photographers are.)

Now, these talented upstarts are bursting onto the scene at one of the busiest times of the year for event photography. One of BFAs first events, for example, was the premiere of "The Romantics" at the Gansevoort Park.
BFA has unabashedly borrowed from its predecessor, in terms of website utility. Just like on PMc, you can search by Person Name, Event Name, Event Venue, and Photographer Name (in that order), and the names of the guests are listed on the side of every gallery.
With some mega PR firms already showing their love for BFA (he was, after all, one of PMc's top photogs for 10 years!), we are excited for the photogs and looking forward to checking out more of their work....
