MoMA PS1 Salad Party
Where: MoMA PS1 Rooftop
Other details: On Sunday, MoMA PS1 unveiled its rooftop garden with a private party hosted by Salad For President founder Julia Sherman. Sherman, who created the blog to share delectable salad recipes alongside stunning photographs, is primarily an artist and collaborated with MoMA through mutual friends. Her website will feature interviews with artists who display their work at PS1, along with recipes created from the produce grown on the rooftop. The garden was designed by Sherman and Camilla Hammer, who walked us through the beds of herbs, fruits, and vegetables which had the backdrop of the New York skyline to boot. Arley Marks and Daniel Kent tended the martini bar, which featured bottles of Industry City Distillery vodka and Greenhook Ginsmiths gin which were all infused with various herbs from the garden. Kent finished off the cocktails with his new brand of vermouth which is set to release later this year. Grimm and Sixpoint beer rounded out the drink offerings, and on the other side Sherman's salads were served along with pesto spreads, mini-sandwiches, and cookies. Guests mingled as they took in all of the offerings, while seizing the opportunity to check out the Richard Serra piece that is part of the permanent collection. Partygoers also left with a gift bag featuring Aesop products and a small vile of flavored salt created by Sherman using the herbs from the garden. The rooftop and garden will be open to the public throughout the summer.
