Sonos Play - A Visual Music Experience
Where: 52 Mercer
Other details: Last night Sonos hosted a visual musical experience for New York's most elite. The event was held to showcase the new Sonos Play:1, the latest addition to the HiFi sound system controlled by tablets or smartphones. The team hosted the party at a Soho loft that impressively spanned the entire block between Broome and Grand. To highlight the compact speakers ability to seamlessly fit anywhere in any home, they remodeled the entire space to emulate different rooms of a house. There was the "boudoir" area, with beautiful vintage mirrors, trays filled with mouth refreshers, and a bath filled with bottles of Veuve Cliquot, the "living room" area, with a wall of books, lush couches, and candles to resemble a fire place, and the "dining area," filled with a long banquet table filled with food supplied by The Little Owl such as suckling pig, lobster, artisanal cheeses, macaroons, and much more.

Sonos provided tablets that were creatively installed in household items, such as the dinner tray in the dining area, or a pillow in the bedroom, and guests were invited to choose the song of their choice. With the whole loft decorated in a white wash, a new song would inspire a new color lighting pattern in the room, creating a harmony between the visual and the audio. Guests happily ate and drank as they played the tunes of their choice, experienced the chill vibe of the room. As a bonus, artists Matt & Kim, Chromeo, Natalia Kills, and Chromeo were special guests of the event, often selecting songs off the tablets themselves and effectively providing the soundtrack for the room.
