Jura Brooklyn Whisky Launch Party

Other details: Last night the new single malt scotch, Jura Brooklyn, launched with a party at Villain in Williamsburg. The new brand went all out to celebrate the launch, bringing in a large crowd of guests for music, whisky tastings, delectable bites, and more. Villain's large space was decked out with leather couches, rugs, and plenty of design elements including typewriters, mounted deer antlers, and a large statue of a stag on the center of the dance floor. Naturally, the two bars were the most popular attraction, and large crowds persisted throughout the night as guests were eager to try the speciality cocktails. Jura brought in some of the top bartenders from New York's finest drinking establishments including The Richardson, Death + Co., Noorman's Kil, and the Post Office. The bartenders were enlisted to create 4 signature drinks which featured ingredients like Swedish Punsch, absinthe, and acai liquor mixed with Jura.
Jura also had a special tasting room upstairs overlooking the 'Jura Lodge' where master distiller Willie Tait greeted guests and introduced the concept of Jura. He played a brief video showing how he collaborated with Brooklyn establishments to create the first batch of Jura. Though the scotch is aged and distilled in the Scottish island it's named for, the input and influence of establishments including The Richardson, Brooklyn Brewery, and BAM were essential to creating a product that bridged the gap between the two islands. Jura also collaborated with Fine & Raw chocolate to create a sea salt dark chocolate bar which guests were encouraged to sample along with the scotch. The flavor of the spirit was peaty and strong, something guaranteed to please those with refined palates, but there will also be 4 different variants to choose from aged up to 16 years. Back downstairs, the crowd continued to revel in the scotch-fueled party. Outside, there was a line of people seeking to get in and participate in the festivities, highlighting the brands immediate impact on the world of spirits. Jura is available at select spirit retailers in NYC, and will available nationwide this fall.
