Premiere Of "Meena" Directed By Lucy Liu
Where: AMC Loews Theater
Other details: The short film MEENA, directed by Lucy Liu, premiered last night at the AMC Loews Theatre in the Flatiron District. The movie is based on a chapter from Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn's bestselling book "Half The Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide." The film deals with child trafficking in India and the special screening was held to raise awareness for UNICEF's child protection programs worldwide. This was Lucy Liu's first time as a director and she loved it so much that she plans to direct more movies in her future. She wanted to take on a new challenge, directing, and she felt that this movie was the perfect project for her because of the inspiring story. The cast, the authors, UNICEF members, and special guests, such as Zac Posen and Jon Michael Hill, were there to celebrate the premiere of the movie.
