Roe v. Wade
In 1970, attorneys Linda Coffee and Sarah Weddington filed suit on behalf of Norma McCorvey (alias: Jane Roe) against Harvey Wade, Dallas county’s DA at the time, defending the right to abortion outside of rape or incest as society collectively criminalized it. The case hit the Supreme Court that same year on appeal and in 1973, the court ruled in favor of Roe.
