Padmanabh, better known to friends and family as "Pacho" (adorable) is the son of Diya Kumari, the only daughter of Jaipur's last maharaja, Bhawani Singh, and Narendra Singh. His parents' union caused quite a stir in the '90s, as Pacho's father was the son of one of his grandfather's campaign staffers and the marriage was seen as crossing class lines.

In 2002, Bhawani Singh officially named Pacho his heir, hence the unofficial title recognized by the aristocracy since the elder Singh's death in 2011.
