Following the October verdict which rocked the Upper East Side, Anthony Marshall was sentenced to one to three years in jail, this morning.
The 85 year old convicted of fleecing and mistreating his elderly mother, a New York City mainstay and one of its most loved and generous philanthropists, shall serve anywhere from 1 to three years in state prison. The minimum sentence permitted, this term likely contemplates Marhshall's advanced age and deteriorating health, having suffered a fall during his own trial. As the court laid down this punishment, his wife Charlene broke into sobs.
Granted time to enjoy, if that's possible, Christmas and New Year's, he must turn himself in on the 19th of January and shall be up for parole after eight months, if not earlier due to medical reasons.
