After disappointing recent losses to Spain and England, the USA Men's National team finally put together an impressive outcome against number 1 world ranked Argentina, tying 0-0 against a stacked Argentinean squad that included Messi (Barcelona), Mascherano (Liverpool), Heinze (Real Madrid), Carvalho (Chelsea), Zanetti (Inter Milan), among many others. Despite pouring rain towards the end of the game, 78,682people--a new record for US soccer attendance at the stadium and the 4th largest crowd ever held at the stadium--remained in standing support trying to will the team to victory despite playing a man down after a late red card to US player Maestroeni. US goalkeeper Tim Howard was awarded the Man of the Match after robbing the local fans of the baby blue and white from several chances that could have put Argentina on top. It was an important tie for the US, who start World Cup 2010 qualifying games next week against Barbados.
