Ward-Nasse gallery held a closing reception for Italian-American artist, Matthew Lauretti this past Saturday. The reception served as a special solo exhibition of Lauretti's latest works. (Ward-Nasse Gallery also held their well-received, group exhibition "Summer In SoHo" this past month.) Both exhibitions brought together local artists with extremely versatile and expressive ideas to honor art of the downtown genre.-
Matthew Lauretti's exhibition featured his latest works which included large-scale, calligraphic-style graffiti paintings of New York. His work boasts the ability to strip art to its bare core, yet holds on to a bold and rich quality that lures its viewers in. His work's lure was undeniable as a diverse crowd showed up to pay tribute to the man's artistic genius.
Guests were able to move around the alternative space while viewing the artwork and mingle among other art enthusiasts. Matthew brought the summer heat with his (very appropriately) New York inspired work for a Summer in Soho.
