Internet Memes And What They Say About All Of Us

by Rachelle Hruska · October 15, 2008

From the Hampster dance of the 90's to this video of a "Ninja Cat" that has been watched over 4.5 million times, Internet Memes fascinate me. Some seem so obvious, who wouldn't watch Tom Cruise jump up and down on Oprah's couch? (May 23, 2005), and the Evolution of Dance? That was sweet. Others leave us all wondering why we just spent 10 minutes watching a dancing electronic baby (October 21, 1996). The memes that form and are passed down via email threads, im's and rss feeds seem to have no rhyme or reason...which is exactly why they are so fascinating. Have fun scrolling through the ones above that Dipity so kindly outlined.

So what do Internet Memes really say about all of us? We have WAY too much time on our hands.
