As is the case with all unfortunate global disasters, everybody remembers where they were when they heard that hordes of rich kids were stranded on an island with feral dogs and cheese sandwiches after they were promised Instagram models, Blink-182 performances, and luxury villas. Fyre Festival, truly a day which will in infamy.
Since the 2017 debacle, countless investigations took place, documentaries were made, and Billy McFarland, the ringleader of the whole thing, was convicted of fraud and spent a few years in prison.
ICYMI, he was released last year. Now, the scam king is back and apparently ready for round two.
This week, McFarland took to his Twitter account (through which aspiring con artists can book one-on-one consulting sessions with him) to announce that Fyre Festival 2.0 is "finally happening." The tweet also prompts his followers to barter for an invite. Interesting...
Obviously, no other details have been shared yet, but we can be sure that if the follow up festival does actually happen, it won't be on Bahamian soil - officials over there still consider McFarland a fugitive. Meanwhile, Ja Rule has yet to comment.
See you in the FEMA tents?
