How The Couple Behind Venus Et Fleur Set A Chic Scene For Entertaining & Beyond!

by Stephanie Maida · March 3, 2023

When it comes to hosting the perfect party, there's quite a bit to consider. There's the food and drink menu of course, the music mood, the ambiance, décor, and, if you really want to elevate the evening, the hand-picked floral arrangements set to complement everything.

Safe to say Seema Bansal and Sunny Chadha have got all of the above covered - and then some.

The husband-and-wife team may be known for founding the innovative, cult-favorite flower company Venus et Fleur, famous for its long-lasting Eternity Roses, but these two moonlight as some serious hosts with the most. The entrepreneurial couple can be counted on for fabulous flower-filled affairs, and we're not just talking about their headline-making Miami wedding back in 2019.

From their recent dinner party at hot spot King in NYC to more intimate soirees hosted at home, Seema and Sunny are experts in setting the chicest scenes for entertaining, date night, and beyond.

Spoiler alert: You can never go wrong with roses!

You both recently hosted a wonderful dinner in New York (had a blast!). What's your entertaining philosophy?
Thank you! Our entertaining philosophy is to make each of our guests feel welcome and involved no matter how grand or intimate the event is. We love gifting and believe it is such an important gesture when entertaining. It’s always fun to send our guests home with a little takeaway for them to remember the amazing time they had with others.

How do you like to set the scene for guests when hosting at home?
To set the scene when hosting at home we first like to create a warm, cozy atmosphere by lighting lightly scented candles around the space, setting out throw blankets, and turning on a chill playlist. Second, but also equally important, we make sure to have a lay out of delicious snacks and drinks. Whenever we entertain in our home we like to make our guests feel like they’re also at home, whether they want to cozy up for a conversation on a couch or banter in the kitchen just like you would with your family.

We imagine your floral tablescapes are to die for. Do you have any tips for incorporating Venus et Fleur roses into your dinner table design?
Your guess is absolutely right! I like to use our smaller arrangements for tablescapes so there's plenty of room for food, drinks and conversation. No one likes having to look over a grand arrangement while trying to catch up. I do try to incorporate the larger arrangements in the common spaces like on my living room mantel, coffee table, etc. My only tip is to place arrangements where they make sense for you and build the scene around them. No matter where you put Venus et Fleur roses, you can’t go wrong.

Do you have any go-to dishes or cocktails you love serving?
I think I speak for both Sunny and I when I say our go-to main dish to serve is his mom’s butter chicken. It is this amazing, melt in your mouth flavor, that is just so homey but has a little kick to it. Everyone is always requesting for her to make it, so much so we’ve joked about her needing to start her own restaurant! When we serve cocktails it is usually Modelo beer for the men and red wine for the women. That’s what our friends usually prefer even though we have a fully stocked alcohol cabinet with countless options to choose from.

    What's your secret party trick?
I don’t really have a party trick but I can make a pretty impressive spicy margarita in under 5 minutes!

When it's just you two at home, how do you amp up the romantic vibes for a date night?
When it’s just Sunny and I, we find it most romantic to order our favorite foods, get in our comfy clothes, snuggle up under cozy blankets and watch movies on our massive LoveSac couch. We’re always dressed up and on the go so we really value those moments where it does get to be just us spending time together in our most comfortable state.

What are some fun ways we can experiment with Venus et Fleur in our home decor in general?
I would say to rotate your arrangement(s)! Since they live for a year or more you can move them into areas that you just feel need a breath of fresh air. I like moving my arrangements from my dining table to my coffee table and even to my powder room. Each arrangement just gives a room a whole new vibe.
