$$$: 2016 Tyler Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Chardonnay

One of my favorite NYC wine shops, Parcelle, sums up this wine pretty succinctly: “Tyler is a winery started by a guy named Justin. Justin is obsessed with Burgundy, and he makes wine in California that tastes like it could have come from France.” Basically, this is a beautifully layered and structured Chardonnay that screams, “Call me The Lighthouse because I live and die by the sea!” It’s rife with herbal and spice notes like mint, chamomile and white peppercorn, with lemon zest and curd carrying through to the finish, where a little seawater tips its hat to say farewell.
