I really don't know why anyone hasn't made this Edith Wharton novel into a movie yet.
It's the story of Nick Lansing and Susy Branch, an aspirational couple with a semi-brilliant, seriously questionable plan. In order to live the good life and mooch off of their wealthy friends, they'll marry and spend a year honeymooning at their exotic homes. If during that time either of them meets someone else who can better advance them socially, they're good to cut ties.
I mean, what could possibly go wrong?
