If you're not a gala-frequenting socialite, Champagne is mostly reserved for classy (read: expensive) nights out and special occasions, largely due to its hefty price tag. But the season of celebration is upon us and, luckily for all you boozy revelers, it's actually the best time of year to buy bubbly. For your holiday parties, yes, but also for your wallet.
Multiple market studies have confirmed that in the weeks leading up to Christmas and New Year's, Champagne prices are actually at their lowest. While that may seem counter-intuitive (there's an increase in demand, so shouldn't there be an increase in price?), the annual rush actually creates more competition between brands and sellers, meaning better discounts get more buys.
It's also a great way to snag some fancier sips for less. As Zester Daily explains, "stores that discount the high-end stuff and narrow the differential between it and more modestly priced products implicitly encourage their customers to buy up. After all, no one likes to be thought chintzy at Christmas."
Cheers to that! Now go out and pop some bottles.
