Meet Miss Subways: New York's Beauty Queens 1941-1976
Meet Miss Subways is a classic Kickstarter success story. When photographer Fiona Gardner set out to fund her book project, she had everything a good beauty queen needs: a platform, a sponsorship, and 40 great back-stories. With the help of journalist Amy Zimmer, the two set out to profile 40 of the nearly 200 women who earned the title of Miss Subways between 1941 and 1976.

Meet Miss Subways team ultimately exceeded their Kickstarter funding goals, allowing them to put their subway storybook in motion. In addition to a
Meet Miss Subways book, their work will also be featured in a November 2012 exhibition at the Transit Museum in Brooklyn sponsored by the New York Foundation for the Arts.
