Banking heir Matthew Mellon married former Ralph Lauren designer and New York social darling Nicole Hanley on Sunday at Diane von Furstenberg's Harbour Island house in the Bahamas.-
Mellon, 43, has certainly had a lot of relationship ups and downs. He was married to Jimmy Choo's Tamara Mellon, who cheated on him while he was in rehab. After they divorced in 2000, Mellon started dating Noelle Reno, who also walked out on him at one point. The couple settled their differences long enough for Mellon to propose, in a helicopter, above the EIFFEL TOWER, with an 8.7 carat diamond ring in 2007.
The third time seems to have been the charm for Mellon, who soon after started dating 32 year-old Nicole Hanley. The couple made their first Patrick McMullan appearance at the opening of Nicole's store, "Hanley", in June of 2008.

Mellon soon started frequently appearing with Hanley at public functions, from fashion events to Hamptons parties. Hanley, who counts Annabelle Vartanian, Kristian Laliberte, and Kipton Cronkite among her friends,is a fixture on the New York Social scene, and appeared on the cover of Avenue Magazine in February 2009.

The couple works well together on all levels--in 2008, they launched their own fashion label, Hanley-Mellon, which will be previewed at this year's New York and London Fashion weeks.
After his widely-publicized and elaborate proposal to Noelle Reno, Mellon may have been daunted by the task of one-upping himself. However, the low-key couple kept it simple and romantic, with Mellon proposing on a boat ride on Fisher's Island.
The wedding was supposed to be held later this year, but while spending Easter in the Bahamas, the pair decided on an off-the-cuff wedding, giving guests 48 hours notice to get on a plane to attend the ceremony. Mellon tweeted:

Dori Cooperman and Alex von Furstenberg acted as witnesses, and Mellon's daughter Minty (short for Araminta, which was the 858th most popular girl's name in 1884, in case you were interested) acted as Bridesmaid. Tamara Mellon also attended the intimate ceremony.
Like any good New York Socialite affair, the wedding was not without its scandal. According to Page Six, Nicole's parents were devastated to have missed the wedding. Maybe a reception in New York is in order?
As news of the wedding trickled stateside, surprised and excited friends, including Ali Wise, Kipton Cronkite, and Peter Davis started congratulating them on facebook. Nicole posted a picture of her new family with the simple caption, "Getting Married, Harbour Island".
