Did anyone even know that P.Diddy, Nelly, Jessica Simpson, and Kid Rock also performed in this halftime show? It’s hard to remember details like Kid Rock’s American flag poncho, or the fact that Beyoncé sang the national anthem that year, when Janet Jackson was flaunting her right nipple on every TV screen in the country. Janet’s boob-slip was bigger news than the Super Bowl itself that year, and led to MTV being banned from all future halftime shows.
