So the Macbook got the iPhone drunk and now they've had a baby! Steve Jobs laid his Midas touch upon the iPad as he unveiled Apple's latest must-have-but-we're-not-exactly-sure-why gizmo to an auditorium full of fawning fanboys whose feverish anticipation of the iPad (nee Tablet's) coming out party had melted their pocket protectors.
The device features a web browser, email capabilities, music, video, apps and, in a direct threat to the supremacy of the Kindle, eBooks. All this with a 10 inch screen and a half-inch width. Prices range from $499 to $829 depending on 3G capability and memory. The WiFi version will ship in 60 days, with 3G following a month later.
