Amy Carter

Amy Carter
Father: Jimmy Carter, 39th President Years in White House: 1977-1981 S.S. Code Name: Dynamo A reporter once asked Amy Carter if she had a message for the children of America. "No." The answer speaks volumes about the precocious daughter of Jimmy Carter, who began her White House residency at the tender age of 9. As the youngest President's child since Caroline Kennedy, Amy attracted a lot of media attention, and was often spotted rollerskating around the White House's East Room or playing in her treehouse on the South Lawn. Her Siamese cat, "Misty Malarky Ying Yan," was often in tow. After outgrowing her rollerskates, Amy became heavily involved in political activism, participating in a number of protests during the '80s and '90s. She was even arrested once for protesting CIA recruitment at UMass Amherst, though the charges were acquitted. At her wedding to James Gregory Wentzel, whom she met while pursuing a Masters at Tulane, Amy refused to be given away. She stated she "belonged to no one." [Amy Carter, Jimmy Carter via]
