Legend has it that the caretaker hung the first doll in respect for a young drowned girl whose doll he found with her body. The sprit of the drowned girl haunted the caretaker, so, he hung more and more dolls. Disturbed by the spirit he believed to be haunting him, the caretaker eventually died in the same spot he had found the young girl.
