Aokigahara, Japan
Colloquially known as Suicide Forest, Aokigahara, in the shadow of Mount Fuji is the second most popular suicide location after the Golden Gate Bridge. The forest lacks animal life and thus has an eerie quiet. The Japanese government has stopped releasing the number of suicides annually and has posted signs along the path reminding visitors to think of their family and loved ones. A gorgeous forest for meditation but heed the signs and tread with caution.
