After the 1986 nuclear reactor accident in Chernobyl, the nearby city Pripyat was abandoned. It has remained a ghost town since, and after 30 years, nature has begun to reclaim the land. Trees, shrubs, and vines creep onto the amusement park (which was set to open just days after the nuclear accident), schools, and hospitals. Right in line with all the post-apocalyptic YA lit out lately, this may be the best place to come and feel hopeful that your irrevocably damaged heart may welcome new life.
