Hotel Rex, San Francisco
San Francisco's Hotel Rex is named for the poet Kenneth Rexroth, but its literary roots run deeper than the appellation. The hotel's interior is decorated with antique typewriters, books, and other literary memorabilia. In addition to the thematic decor, Hotel Rex is home to regular readings, lectures, and book signings, and guests are asked to make a $1 contribution to Joie de Vivre Gives, the hotel's philanthropic program, which was co-founded by author Dave Eggars.
