This past Saturday, Chef Art Smith of Art and Soul at the Liaison Hotel got married to his long time love, Jesus Salguerio. Being a big name chef and all, Chef Art had a number of other big name culinary masters at his nuptials preparing food for him, his new hubby, and guests. For the morning breakfast, Top Chef competitor Carla Hall whipped up a homemade fruit and nut granola breakfast to fuel guests before a long run to the Lincoln Memorial lead by Chef Art and his trainer Az Ferguson. A great way to start a day that lead to endless food and drink.
After the actual wedding ceremony, Art and Soul hosted a barbecue buffet brunch that featured dishes from bevy of celebrated chefs from across the nation. Why a barbecue? According to Chef Art,
"because no matter where you come from, everyone likes to get together over some simple, down home cooking and Southern inspired barbecue."
A star studded guest list included:
musician Moby
Mr. & Mrs. Congressman Dingell
Fox News' Chris Wallace and his wife Lorraine
Oprah bud Nate Berkus
Dr. Dean Ornish
Iron Chef American chairman Mark Dacascos
former NFL player and TLC BBQ pitmaster Warren Sapp
Staying true to his new slender figure, Art's evening featured a rooftop party complete with vegetarian fare.
"The Conscious Cook" author Tal Ronnen prepared faux grilled chicken sandwiches, and Chicago's famous American Dog hotdogs' Manolis Alpogianis brought veggie dogs.
Congrats to the newlyweds!
