Last night marked the launch of DC's newest poetry slam. Held at The Fridge, the Beltway Poetry Slam was the first of the now monthly competitive series where audience members judge performers competing for the chance to represent the District at national and international competitions.

Competitors at Beltway Poetry Slam are required to perform up to three minutes of original work and are then judged by randomly selected audience members based on their content, originality, and performance. Those performing are competing for a chance to head to the National Poetry Slam, with 80 teams across the nation, and for a spot at the Individual World Poetry Slam and the Women of the World Slam.

Check out the Beltway Poetry Slam every last Tuesday of the month at The Fridge!
