#5: The W Hotel POV Terrace
The rooftop of the W Hotel is the only one on this list that doesn't have a list. If you go here on a typical Friday or Saturday night, all of the good tables will be taken up by superstar athletes, a reality TV star celebrating his or her birthday, or a visiting celebrity that knows where to go.
Be dressed to impress and be prepared to spend money, because drinks here are not cheap.
First, you'll get carded at the door of the hotel lobby. Then, you will likely have to wait in line to get past the velvet rope and up the elevator to the terrace. The line goes kind of quickly if you're there for a ticketed event...but on a busy weekend night, it's one in, one out as early as 11 p.m. with guests of the famous guests upstairs getting first priority.
Your best chance: Get there early or reserve a table on a special night.
If you know someone famous inside: Name drop him/her to the person handling the velvet rope. It might help if you have that intel, but do
not guess!
If you're not let in: More like, if you get tired of waiting or POV closes on you. Old Ebbitt Grill is down the street, you can eat a few oysters and have a strong martini at their bar, and it's just as DC-iconic as the W.
