Inside The Renaissance Hotel's Day Of Discovery Celebrations!

You heard it right - 160 events, 160 Hotels around the world all on 1 day! Last week, the Renaissance Hotels celebrated their 4th annual Global Day of Discovery with an exclusive events featuring sips, tastes and entertainment from around the DMV! On Thursday, June 11, the fourth annual global “Day of Discovery” took place simultaneously at 160 Renaissance Hotels around the world! The "Day of Discovery" celebrations inspire to help the next generation of business travelers to discover unexpected cultural experiences. In the District, we participated in the Day of Discovery festivities at the Renaissance Hotel Dupont Circle (1143 New Hampshire Ave NW), and the Renaissance Downtown Hotel (999 9th Street).

The festivities began at 5pm at the Renaissance Downtown. Guests were welcomed into the hotel's beautifully modern lobby with activities such as easel painting and a scavenger hunt! Guest had the option to participate in a scavenger hunt to discover local haunts and receive exclusive discounts to popular DC hotspots such as Dacha Beer Garden, Dolcezza, Ellas Pizza, Red Velvet Cupcakery, Bakers & Baristas and City Tap House. Throughout the evening, guests were treated to live music by the blues man himself, Johnny Grave in the hotel’s lobby lounge where they also enjoyed a delicious assortment of light fare by the hotel’s chief chefs, and brews from Devils Backbone Brewing Company.

Following the Renaissance Downtown celebration, we made our way over to the Ren Dupont for more Discovery fun! Guests had the opportunity to explore the best of DC with tasting tables from around the DMV. Guests sipped on an assortment of cocktails from Catoctin Creek, Green Hat Gin, Port City Brew, Paradise Springs Winery, and an melange of gourmet bites from James Beard's Ris Lacoste, Kogiya DC, Barren Island Oysters, Coastal Sunbelt, and Metropolitan Pasta! While guests noshed on light fare and sipped on cocktails, the evening took an exciting turn when the Renaissance Dupont welcomed a special guest from the DC United! That's right, Sean Franklin from the DC United futbol team joined the party and posed for photos and mingled with guests making the event even more special. As the evening went on, guests continued to enjoy the sounds of Jazz Fest’s featured band Elliot Seppa Trio while having the chance to enter drawings at each tasting station. The full percentage (100%) of the suggested donations went to Boys Town Washington, DC - a local organization dedicated to helping children find a safe and loving home and environment.
