To give: One of my friends is an ambitious and talented home cook, and she and her husband make a sport of eating Michelin-starred meals around the world. When I saw the book “Benu” by Corey Lee, whose San Francisco restaurant of the same name was awarded three Michelin stars, I thought of her, because she loves a good culinary challenge. And I certainly wouldn’t say no if she wants to test the recipes out on me!
To receive: Tickets to “Hamilton” on Broadway! I’ve been dying to see it, especially after I got to interview Lin-Manuel Miranda about his MacArthur “genius” grant. But those tickets are so crazy expensive that I may as well ask for a pony -- so I’ll set my sights on some books (“Between the World and Me,” “Fates and Furies”) or some shiny shoes, or a donation to support the excellent work of the Center for Justice and Accountability, a nonprofit dear to my heart.
