Katy Perry and Staples - "Make Roar Happen"
Where: The Verizon Center
Who was there: Katy Perry and the two lucky local teachers and students that attended the meet and greet with Katy
Other details: On Tuesday, June 24th, Katy Perry opened her Prismatic World Tour at DC's Verizon center. In addition to her concert, the pop singer took the time to pose with local students and teachers for DonorsChoose.org, a grand charity organization that has funded over 450,000 classroom projects for teachers and millions of students. As the presenting sponsor for Katy's tour, the singer collaborated with STAPLES, and created "Make Roar Happen" to raise awareness for DonorsChoose.org, urging fans and people in the nation to make a $1 donation to the organization either in a STAPLES store or online. Through the "Make Roar Happen" program, STAPLES and Katy donated $1 million to DonorsChoose.org, and $43, 994 of that donation went to classrooms in the DC area.
