Other details: On Tuesday, June 24 the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, Peru Ministerio de Comercio Exterior y Turismo and Washington City Paper hosted Pisco Fest as a Post-Rammy’s celebration at the rooftop pool of Liaison Capitol Hill. About 250 guests enjoyed 6 different cocktail creations by D.C.’s top mixologists and amazing bites from Liaison’s restaurant Art and Soul. Mixologists included Jessica Woods- Room 11, Franklin Jones- The Gibson, Mary Kelly- Del Campo, Jo-Jo Valenzuela- City Tap House, Jon Arroyo- Farmers Fishers Bakers, and Ronald Flores- Art & Soul. Fan favorite was Jo-Jo Valenzuela from City Tap House, who had a line wrapped around the pool for most of the evening and topped his pisco creation with a Angostura Bitters smiley face. Throughout the evening judges carefully tasted each cocktail and gave them different scores based off of everything from presentation to taste. After all the scores were tallied Mary Kelly from Del Campo was crowned the Queen of Pisco with a Pisco Porton creation of Smoked Cantaloupe, Pisco Porton, fresh lemon, mint and a crispy prosciutto rim.
