Disgraced Trump campaign chairman and lobbyist Paul Manafort is officially on the chopping block, a.k.a. trial. The proceedings kicked off at Federal Court in Alexandria today, where he's being tried on bank and tax fraud charges, related to the millions he made when working for a Russia-friendly Ukrainian political party.
Needless to say, it's been extremely entertaining.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Uzo Asonye, Manafort made $60 million in Ukraine between 2010 and 2014, and had "thirty bank accounts in three foreign countries, paid by Ukrainian oligarchs who would create shell companies."
While that all sounds shady AF, the most fascinating detail revealed today in court was Manafort's questionable taste in menswear. To highlight his extravagant spending habits, or just to make fun of him, Asonye announced that Manafort had a $15,000 jacket "made from an ostrich."
Forget a lawyer, this dude needs to get himself a stylist.
