What: Cuba Libre
Where: 801 9th St NW, Washington, DC
Why we love it: Stepping inside Cuba Libre, located in the Chinatown/Penn Quarter area, is a treat unto itself offering a sky high ceiling and Cuban-inspired decorations galore. You can grab a seat at the ample bar and choose from a wide variety of rum-infused cocktails or a pitcher of Sangria or you can find seating in the large dining area and enjoy a delicious menu of Cuban-inspired dishes. Our favorites include Tropical Chips and a Trio of Dips with Plantain and malanga chips. Black bean hummus, Haitian eggplant salad and Cuba Libre salsa; Tuna Ceviche with Diced yellowfin tuna and jalapeño-coconut-ginger sauce; Spinach and Manchego Buñuelos (Manchego cheese and spinach puffs. Goat cheese-ranch sauce and organic olive oil); Vaca Frita (Tender braised and crisped-shredded flank steak, roasted onions and citrus-garlic sauce. White rice and Cuban black beans); and more.
