Top D.C. Glamazon Heads To NYC For Style Competition

by MADELEINE STARKEY · July 15, 2010

Last night Charlotte Russe invited 20 of the best fashion bloggers on the web to come compete in the Charlotte Russe Project Mannequin Style Off, a Project Runway-esque competion where bloggers got assignments of different looks.  D.C.'s Makeda Saggau-Sackey of Glamazon Diaries was one of the contestants.

Bloggers raced through the Charlotte Russe showroom, which was set up at the 24th Street Loft in Chelsea, to put their looks together, all while being filmed live. Using the power of social media, readers and fans alike got the chance to tweet for prizes as well as watch their favorite bloggers put together looks from the Fall2010 collection.

Out of town bloggers flew in from as far away as Los Angeles, but we only really care about Makeda.

The winner of Project Mannequin will be chosen starting on Friday by Charlotte Russe shoppers and readers of the blogs.  The winner gets:

    bragging rights

as well as their ensemble displayed in the windows of select Charlotte Russe stores around the country

    plus an iPad.

Makeda had the assignment of putting together an outfit for a blind date.  She told GofG:

"It was such a treat to meet a few of the fashion bloggers but such a rush to compete against each of them for the bragging rights and the exposure to Charlotte Russe shoppers. What an honor to be chosen as a DC fashion blogger to compete in a league of extraordinary fashionistas. Of course I am asking everyone reading this to go CharlotteRusse.com to vote for me so that I can win!"
