At dusk, Campaign for the National Mall Co-Chair David Rubenstein was honored for his generous $7.5 million donation, which will cover half the cost of the repairs. The National Park Service’s superintendent for the Mall, Robert Vogel, led the 10-second countdown for the light switch.
