YouTube(s) Of The Day: The French Are Poor Sports

by MADELEINE STARKEY · June 23, 2010

Poor France.  They cannot--figuratively and literally--win when it comes to the World Cup.  This year they've performed less than impressively, and have had some scandalous internal conflicts as well.

France's coach Raymond Domenech and star striker Nicolas Anelka had a blow up in the locker room that resulted in Coach Domenech dismissing striker Anelka from the team.  Dude sent him home!  In the middle of the World Cup!

Then France lost to Mexico.  Then the team went on strike and wouldn't train.  Then they lost to South Africa.  Apparently the loss to the World Cup host country was more than Domenech could handle: he refused to shake the hand of South African coach, Carlos Alberto Parreira.  If that's not poor sportsmanship, I don't know what is.  In case you missed it, peep.

And, lest ye forget, Domenech is not the only français who has perpetrated uncouth behavior in recent World Cups.  Remember Monsieur Zinedine Zidane?  Let me refresh your memory.
