The Dress
In keeping with tradition, Eugenie chose U.K.-based designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos of the Peter Pilotto label to design her gown. But besides being gorgeous (obviously), the dress is particularly special to the princess for another reason. At the age of 12, Eugenie had major surgery to fix the curvature of her spine due to scoliosis, and she is now an advocate for young people facing similar conditions. She made a special request that her gown feature a low back to show off her scar to the world, and to inspire others to embrace the beauty in their own scars.
The gown also features a stunning train, as well as embroidered symbols in the fabric representing things close to the bride's heart, including a thistle (for Scotland), a shamrock (her mother's Irish roots), the York Rose, and ivy (for the couple's home).
