Maurizio Cattelan: All
Maurizio Cattelan, famed contemporary artist and prankster (he once stole a neighboring gallery's works and tried to pass them off as his own) has tailored an "exhibition narrative" especially for the Guggenheim, featuring over 130 installations and artworks that span the depth and breadth of his luminous career. Described as a hyperrealist, Cattelan's works are known for their dark humor "that reveal contradictions at the core of modern society." The exhibit closes in just two days, and in celebration the Guggeinheim is throwing a closing forum called, "The Last Word," featuring over thirty artists and writers in contemplation of the end.
Through January 22 at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, 1071 Fifth Ave. The Last Word, this Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
