Bigger Isn’t Better

Bigger isn't better when it comes to chartering a yacht in Cannes. Most A-listers and high-net-worth people want the largest yacht we can find them, however, the “prime” dockage on the Jetee Albert Edouard (or the “Old Port” as us regulars call it) is quite scarce. This is the dock right in front of the Palais des Fesitvals where the major black tie screenings are held. This is “THE” place to be. The mega yacht sightings and events that you read about and attend will be along the Jetee Albert Edouard. However, there are only a few boat slips (basically a parking space for your yacht) on the Jetee and the maximum size yacht that will fit here is about 200’ – nothing bigger. The larger yachts (150’ – 200’) will only fit at the very end and space is extremely limited. Dozens of festival-goers will be vying for these select spots. As for the yachts over 200’, they will be relegated to anchoring offshore and guests will have to be carried in and out of the port by tender. This is what you do not want - who would ever want to go back and forth to the dock in a Valentino gown or Tom Ford tuxedo via tender?! Such a hard life! So make sure your yacht does not exceed 200’ ft. Cannes Yachts [Photos via Justin Jay]
