The Wayback Ball
The Wayback Ball took place at The Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, where out of town Hotel Thrillist guests were staying. There was a vintage 1920s dress code for the ball, and although by wearing 1970s platforms, one may feel sort of place, it was easy to hide by the pool, the bar, or the food tasting buffet where local Chicago restaurants, including
Bar Toma, Filini, Maison Brasserie, Markethouse, Untitled and the Storefront Company provided tasty bite sized eats.
The cute samples offered zero guilt for new American tapas like the deep fried corn cakes by Untitled. Top Chef reality TV star, Grayson Shmitz, made two separate batches of Watermelon Bacardi Lemonade cocktails, one of which was heavy on the Bacardi to quench the thirst of the few NYC party girls at the event.
The Sons of Susan played throwback jazz, but it was easy to tune out the big band and get lost in the sky scrapers, the distant view of Lake Michigan, and the rest of Downtown Chicago guests were surrounded by during the outdoor Wayback ball party.
