Jean shopping can be a total time consuming nightmare because rarely does the first pair of jeans you try on fit like a glove-hell let's face it you can try on 10 pairs and still come up short. Thanks to good ol' Technology, that will be a thing of the past. A company in the UK has invented a machine called the "Bodymetrics Pod."
It looks like a psychedelic tanning machine and when you're inside it does a 7 second, 360 degree scan of your body's 3D measurements. The machine then tells you whether your shape is an emerald (slim), ruby (curvaceous), or sapphire (in between). It's pretty obvious that we can figure these things out by ourselves with a look in the mirror but the cool part about this machine is that it goes a step further by suggesting brands and styles of jeans that will best fit your body map.

The machine is expensive but the company believes stores that invest in it will make that money back in jean sales. This futuristic fashion pod has already made its way to the US, with Bloomingdale's already testing it in select stores. In the next two years, they estimate that 100 US retailers will have it in their stores. The company is also looking into designing a pod for consumers to use at home when online shopping.
As CEO of Bodymetrics, Susan Coonatilake stated in PSFK,
Stores are increasingly looking to provide experiences that entice shoppers into their stores, and then allow a seamless journey from stores to online. And we all want shopping experiences that are personalized to us – our size, shape and style.
We're not sure how well this actually works but hey- it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. It's free and could save a lot of time and energy that goes into finding the perfect fitting jeans.
