Scope Hamptons Decides Less Is More

by Adam Bertrand · July 23, 2008

scope hamptonsThe Scope art fairs have always featured galleries from all ends of the earth, but at this year's Scope Hamptons, there will be less of them. The Scopers have finally realized that people are more inclined to look closely (and consider purchasing) when there's less to look at. To someone like me, for whom the Louvre remains a huge and glossy swirl, the downsizing comes as a relief, and an impetus to go check it out.

There will be 40 national and international galleries, and a silent auction in which budding aficionados can bid on one-on-one time with some of the world's most esteemed collectors. The Psycholicious Cats are DJing at the opening night party on Friday, and the fair will wind down with an after-party at Surf Lodge on Sunday. For a complete schedule of events, go here.
