The Annual Hamptons Art Show Set To Open At The Fireplace Project

by BRITTANY MENDENHALL · June 5, 2008

Just because you can't go downtown doesn't mean you have to miss out on the art scene. The Annual Hamptons Art Show will have it's opening reception this Saturday from 6-8pm at the Fireplace Project. Curated by Klaus Kertess, the Fireplace Project is a contemporary art gallery located in East Hampton. If you've been making trips out East for quite some time, you may recognize it as the former Talmage garage on Springs Fireplace Road.

The show runs from June 6 to June 16th and will include the works of 11 artists who live and work in the Hamptons. Robert Harms, Mary Heilmann, Judy Hudson, Tony Just, Cynthia Knott, James Nares, Jake Patterson, Billy Sullivan, Michael Tetherow, Darius Yektai, and Joe Zucker will be featured.

The Fireplace Project is directed by Edsel Williams and is open Friday - Sunday from 12-6pm and by appointment. There's no reason why you can't fit some culture into your weekends of booze, beaches, and BBQs.
