Talk about inflation!
Cult favorite Instagram account @OverHeardNewYork riled up the masses yesterday, calling out a Hamptons spot for being - prepare yourself, as this is truly shocking - overpriced.
Turns out somewhere in Montauk is charging $90 for a plate of 16 chicken tenders and barely a handful of fries.
Though we hate math, we can confirm that that works out to around $5.63 per tender. And maybe, just maybe, that's not that crazy a price when you look at it that way. In the world of the Hamptons at least. But really, having the balls to put any amount of chicken tenders on a menu for $90 is like, woah.
So, who is it that's getting away with charging an arm and a leg for what one Instagram user commented were the same frozen chicken fingers her high school cafeteria served?
Well, after a LENGTHY (read: 15 minute) investigation, we can quite confidently place this platter's location as chill hangout spot Montauk Beach House.
Curiously enough, this expensive shared dish is missing from their online menu - but sure enough, all the rest of the items on display in the video check out - from the Bavarian Style Soft Pretzel to the Cauli-Guac & Chips.
I guess the real question is, does this mean the Surf Lodge have to raise the price on their chicken tender tower now?
